An interpretation of Art Déco meets straight lined shapes of ancient runes – the experimental type design from Timo Titzmann and Jakob Runge is available right now. It goes hand in hand with a specimen fresh from the press.

The geometric constructed all-case grotesque comes along with two additional integrated extravagant stylistic sets for the whole alphabet and some astonishing special characters as well. The plain linear-antiqua with classical proportions offers numerous combination possibilities between the ordinary alphabet of TJ Evolette A and the two alternate alphabets. This variety encourages unusual and extroverted creation in editorial and poster design.

The font contains seven closely graded weights (form hairline to bold) to keep all options open while designing with the font. All common character sets of Central and Eastern European as well as Western Europe are supported. By Open Type features all 446 glyphs can be used optimally.

the 405, my life line to the world around me
this is strictly a typographic poster to illustrate how the 405 Freeway relates to the relationship aspect of life, the ever changing flow of emotions a person can go through with the ever changing flow of traffic. theres good days and then theres bad days, just like traffic… theres bumper to bumper and then smooth sailing, which can change your mood instantly and this poster shows my love/hate relationship with this life line i call the 405

This new hand-drawn creation from artists Giuseppe Salerno and Paco Gonzalez is exactly that, art and typography. 27 letters. 27 distinct typographies. It took more than a month of hard work to complete the entire alphabet. Each letter was created to stand alone, each letter representing a particular style, while at the same time maintaining unity when placed together. The effect is an a eye-popping headline.

A poster you stop to look at. Mixed mediums were used: Indian ink & white acrylic, hand-drawn with different brushes & fountain pens on smooth Japanese paper. Each letter was painted with white, warm grays and black. 27 types of cursive, block letters and stylized calligraphy.

ODE TO A LETTER

Inspired by my love for letters and typography I decided to make an ode to all the letters of the alphabet. I wrote a letter to each of the 26 characters of the alphabet, starting with ‘Dear A…’, Dear B..’,’Dear C…’ etc. For these letters I used the most personal typography I have , my own handwriting. I brought my handwriting to a higher level, honoring every character. A  3D-wooden sculpture was created for each single character to accompany the letter as well.

Lou Medel is a graphic designer by profession and an artist by nature. He loves drawing on his free time and incorporating it into design work when it is appropriate. For over three years, he has designed a variety of print and web projects. He has taken advantage of the existing graph paper background in his little moleskine and created a series of designs using the grid. His first series of patterns has overlapping shapes in marker and pen. He calls it “Mesh”.

Maxime Nadeau always wanted to make type with triangles, however using a triangular-ish grid is very limiting and can cause a lot of style discordances between the different letters of the alphabet. This is still a work in progress… The finished type will be available for free to anyone suscribed to her facebook and twitter page.

José Ernesto Rodriguez from Germany has created a new font called “Handschrift” by using only his hands and a copying machine.

This is a new poster series (three versions of 70cm x 50cm) by zensato and inspired by the book named “Cosmos”, written by the great astronomer, astrophisicist, cosmologist, author and science popularizer: Carl Edward Sagan (1934-1996).

In this book there is a whole chapter dedicated to Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). He was a German mathematician, astronomer and astrologist, and key figure in the 17th century scientific revolution. This new series is his tribute to one of his famous quotes…

It seems that Juan Osborne isn’t the only artist using typography lately to create portraits. Motion graphic designer Alex Verlan of Versa Studios has one-upped Osborne, having well and truly raised the bar with this beautifully rhythmic piece that captures the spirit in the words of Martin Luther King Jnr.

Using kinetic typography, Alex has created a visual display of Luther King’s inspiring Drum Major Instinct speech. It’s nothing new to recreate a speech video using moving text, but it’s the poetic culmination of the words into a portrait of the man himself that sets this piece aside from the others. We can’t quite fathom how much work the Ukraine-based designer must have put in to this project, but the result is just brilliant.
